Indianapolis is most noted for the largest single-day sporting event in the world: the Indianapolis 500-Mile Race which is held at the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
The Indianapolis Motor Speedway, located in Speedway, is the site of the Indianapolis 500, an open-wheel automobile race held each Memorial Day weekend on the 2.5 mile (4 km) oval track. The track is often referred to as "the Brickyard," as it was paved with 3.2 million bricks shortly after its initial construction in 1909. Today the track is paved in asphalt, although there remains a yard of bricks at the start/finish line.

General information
The Indianapolis motor Speedway - the Brickyard - is a monument of a race track. As all American inventions it is BIG. With a capacity for 400,000 visitors it is one of the biggest race tracks in the world. Formula 1 only uses part of the oval. This means that only part of the seating capacity is in use for the F1 United States Grand Prix. The rest of the track is layed out in the infield. Two additional stands are built for this occasion. Facilities are decent and there is enough parking spaces around the track.
Viewing quality
Due to the nature of the circuit most of the seats are located around the oval. Highlights are stands Paddock (Box) and Paddock Penthouse. They are opposite the pit lane so they offer an exciting view. Stands H, J and Northwest Vista are also prime locations as the cars turn into the infield here. The new temporary stands inside the infield are located at exciting corners. Especially Corner 10 stand is interesting. There are General Admission tickets available and they offer access to the infield.
Prices
The US Grand Prix is the F1 race with the lowest possible ticket prices in the world. The most expensive Grandstand ticket (Sunday) is around 160 Euro. You already have a good seat in J for around 115 Euro. To witness the qualifying (with free seating anywhere) you buy the Saturday Admission or Qualifying ticket for 30 odd Euros.
Best Deal
The best deal on F1 tickets for the United States Grand Prix is stand J. Located in Turn 1 you get a great view of the long start-finish straigth where cars get up to incredible speeds followed by hard braking (overtaking?) into Turn 1. You can follow the cars into the next set of corners in the infield as well.
