Last season info Sao Paolo Brazil
Renault and McLaren dominated the race. Alonso put one hand on the championship trophy by stealing first position from Montoya, as Raikkonen slipped up, running wide at the very start of his lap in the Senna S, pushing him down to fifth on the grid, with the Renault of Fisichella and Button’s BAR ahead of him on row two. It was not a good start for Raikkonen, who knew he must win to retain any realistic hope of the title, while all Alonso needed was a third place to wrap things up - regardless of Raikkonen’s result.

Winner + pole + fastest lap Sao Paolo Brazil
Felipe Massa (Ferrari) won the GP Brazil 2006 race followed by Fernando Alonso (Renault) and Jenson Button (Honda) in second and third place. Felipe Massa had started from pole position. The fastest lap was run by Michael Schumacher 1:12.162.

Historic info Sao Paolo Brazil
Sao Paulo hosts the Formula 1 Grand Prix, the only circuit venue in the whole Latin America. In 1938 a huge plot of land was bought in Sao Paulo by two local property developers who intended to build a large housing development. It soon became clear, however, that one part of the land was not suitable for housing and so they decided to build a racing circuit instead. Sao Paulo grew at an incredible speed though and soon the circuit was surrounded by houses. When, in the 1970s, Emerson Fittipaldi began to have international success, the Brazilians started to want a Grand Prix. In 1973 the track hosted its first championship Grand Prix. The track became a lucky charm for local racers, Fittipaldi, Carlos Pace and Carlos Reutemann all taking the spoils of victory in the 1970s. Interlagos was the scene of Pace's first and only Formula One victory, and following his death in a plane crash the circuit was renamed in his honour. In 1978 the grand prix moved to Rio, but in 1979 Interlagos got its race back. By 1981 however Rio had retaken the Grand Prix, Sao Paulo's slums being at odds with the glamorous image Formula One wanted to portray. When a $15m redevelopment programme was agreed in the heyday of Ayrton Senna, a Sao Paulo local, the race finally moved back to Interlagos.

Travel info - Formula 1 - Interlagos, Sao Paulo, Brazil

How to get there: Sao Paolo Brazil
The circuit is situated in the Interlagos suburb of Sao Paolo, approximately 15km south of the city centre. The city possesses a wide public transport network, including a subway system, numerous bus companies and plenty of taxis. Sao Paulo has two airports, with Guarulhos, 30 kilometres east of the city, handling international traffic. The best way to get into the city is by hire car or taxi. Bus is the cheapest option, though they can be rather crowded and slow.

How to get to the track (and back)
To get to the circuit by car from Sao Paulo, take the Marginal Pinheiros south-bound towards Interlagos and then follow signs for the track. Sao Paulo’s Metro system is clean and efficient and is the best way of getting around the city centre. However, it doesn't extend to the suburbs.. If you're not hiring a car, a taxi is the easiest way to get to the track at Interlagos.

Where to stay
Finding lodgings or simply sleeping over in São Paulo is not a problem. The city has a hotel network in constant growth and comparable to the world's best. Over the last decade alone, more than US$ 500 million were invested in a sector that continues growing. The forecast is that next year, the city´s hotel capacity will reach 50 thousand units, divided in different categories, from the more luxurious options of the large chains, to the most economical ones.

General information
The Sao Paulo Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace is an older track. However a lot of the facilities especially those at the more expensive stands are very good. There are a couple of large terrace like stands that are aimed at locals and then there are the secured high-end stands for the visitors. There is no General Admission area.

Viewing quality
The stands along the main straight offer a close view of the action. The downside to this is that there are high fences protecting the visitors from possible debri in case of accidents. This limits the view partly. Grandstand E is located at the pit lane exit. This is also a very exciting location as the exit is quite long and often drivers try to stay ahead of their competitors on the track.

Prices
There is a huge difference between the A and G stands and the rest. For a little over 140 Euro you have Weekend tickets for these. The other stands - most of which offer full security and hostesses - are well over 300 Euro. Exact prices for 2006 are not yet finalized.

Best Deal
The best deal on F1 tickets for the Brazilian Grand Prix is not yet known.
